Two of the questions I am most frequently asked by my customers are "Does your home look like this store?" and "Do you decorate your home for every holiday?"
The answer to the first question is...yes and no. My house does look like my store but not exactly. First of all, April (alias "Monkey Girl") does not live at my house, so I do not have as many decorative elements hanging from my ceiling. Also, my decorating is a little more tranquil than the shop. It is a quiet retreat from the intoxicating visual stimulation I experience throughout the day at American Harvest.
In regard to the second question - YES, YES, YES! With my passion for display and my love for the incredible creations of American artists, how could I not decorate for every season? I have been known to creep downstairs in the wee hours of the morning, say 4:00am and start decorating. I can't help it - - -ideas just come to me while I'm sleeping and I simply must act upon them. That's probably why I fall asleep while watching CSI in the evening. Can you believe that I have never seen the ending to a single CSI episode?
Back to decorating, I thought I would share a few glimpses of the Halloween decorations in my home. I am not a purest. I mix antiques, vintage and folk art, (I encourage my customers to do the same). I buy what I love. I surround myself with artists' creations that make me happy and send my imagination flying. Therefore, you may see a bit of a French Halloween theme or sly wicked cats next to smiling jack-o-lanterns. I don't know if they even celebrate Halloween in France, but in my living room the dolls are all attending a Parisian Gala Halloween Ball. Please feel free to join them!

Have fun decorating your home each season!
